Announcements Minimize
NASSOA membership/Kappa Owners - Wednesday, February 03, 2010
NASSOA membership/Kappa Owners

It is with great sadness that the NASSOA council announces the sunset of the NASSOA organization. Effectively immediately, membership solicitation will no longer be accepted. Additionally, no further action will be taken on council membership nominations nor solicitations for hosting the 2011 NASSM.

The council has voted and taken this difficult step due to a steady decline in new and renewal memberships as well as the demise of both the Pontiac and Saturn brands causing the loss of our national brand managers at GM. Additional Association funds will be offered to the 2010 Canton NASSM committee for their use and any remaining funds will be donated to the American Red Cross in support of the Haiti Earthquake relief effort.

The original council members who served in various positions, most of whom remain today, wish to thank all those kappa owners who supported NASSOA over the past 3 years. We all believed in the original “Pontiac Excitement” the Solstice brought followed up by its Sky counterpart. The initial enthusiasm was overwhelming as exhibited by the grassroots movement which resulted in the first NASSM in Kansas City in June 2006. It was even more impressive to see all the regional clubs develop as well as the special meets begin to organize such as Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina and Twisting to The River in Ohio. The NASSM carried on through Nashville, Las Vegas, Denver and leading into this year at Canton.

However, the economy and other financial difficulties have impacted us all. Many of the regional clubs have grown smaller with fewer renewals and members as well. The NASSM participation has grown, but not to the level anticipated, and with the demise of both car brands, the original enthusiasm has begun to dissipate. The council sincerely hopes the grassroots movement which enabled NASSOA to begin, will carry on and continue the NASSM tradition in 2011.

Respectively submitted,

Carl

Acting Chair

NASSOA Council

Also of note our email system has been down over the last week or so.  If you've had a new account setup, attempted to request insurance via the web form, asked for a new password, had a membership expiration, or any other task that would have sent an email they would have not gone out.  If you need assistance with any issue you feel might have been caused by this down time please use the About->Contact Us form to send a help request.  We greatly apologize for this issue and any problems it has caused.

Save the Kappa! - Tuesday, January 27, 2009

NASSOA is proud to announce our support for a new Solstice/Sky movement formed by Kappa owners to help keep the Kappa line of cars in production.

Save the Kappa!

Save the Kappa is a grassroots movement to save the Kappa platform based cars started by Brentil, FFormula88, and MCEB.  With the dire financial status of the corporation and the current market for sports cars as a direct result of the current economic crisis, there is a real possibility that the fate of the Solstice and Sky roadsters (along with the Opel GT) could be in dire jeopardy at this time.

With these threats to continued and future Kappa production and enhancements looming, STK is here to try and bring the this issue to light, and motivate all owners and enthusiasts to remind GM of this and encourage them to stick with the Kappas, and proceed with future plans to improve and market these cars beyond their current iteration.

We hope you will join us in spreading this information to other Kappa owners!

Fix your MYGMLink records thanks to NASSOA! - Wednesday, November 12, 2008

NASSOA is working with GM in order to fix a problem noted when MYGMLink transferred
from the GM site to Yahoo. If you were previously registered in the old GM site,
then you registered as required on the new yahoo site, in some cases not all
maintenance records populated the new site. Warrenty records from the dealership
WILL NOT Transfer at all, you will have to enter that data manually.

Working with the IT POC, the marketing coordinator for NASSOA will coordinate this
fix for NASSOA members. In order to do this, NASSOA will need the following:

Wester's Tune discount to NASSOA members - Monday, September 08, 2008

NASSOA is proud to once again offer a truly unique ECM tune for your Solstice or Sky. Lyndon Wester of Wester’s Garage has been in the engine tuning business for over 20 years, and offers tuning customization at a level far surpassing off-the-shelf programmers. Wester's offers a number of programming options, from a tune providing modest HP and torque gains up through a "hot" tune that will most likely blow away any other programmer's so-called "hot" tune. While many hand held programmers claim performance gains, what they fail to tell you is that most of those gains are only available at the top end of your RPM range. Wester's programming will give you both HP and torque gains across the entire RPM range of your vehicle. Many vehicle owners will also experience modest cruising mileage gains ranging from 1 to 4 MPG.

Victory from the Jaws of Defeat - Formula Drift Atlanta - Sunday, May 18, 2008

Victory from the Jaws of Defeat
By Jim Griffiss

ATLANTA GA (May 11, 2008) My son and I rolled into our hotel about 8:00 PM
Thursday night, we called Max our friend on the RMR Pit Crew to see what was
going on. He said the Solstice had made it in from Detroit and run one lap and
broken down. They did not know what was wrong but they were working on it. As
it stood they did not know if Rhys would be able to run at all. The GTO was
running strong so at least the team would have one car in the running. We
grabbed a bite to eat and got some sleep before the big day on Friday. I mostly
tossed and turned all night thinking about the up coming day, and had a dream
that the Solstice was fixed and would run. (log in to read more on this in the Members Area)

Welcome To NASSOA! - Thursday, January 10, 2008

North American Solstice - Sky Owners Association

A message from Kathy Gee, Council Chair – NASSOA

(aka MomsSol – SolsticeForum.com)

Many of you know me and the passion that I share with other forum members for developing a community where we can learn and share with each other.  Recently I have been working with owners from across North America in the following regions – Northeast, Southeast, Great Lakes, Pacific, Mountain, Southwest, and Canada.  Our goal was the foundation of a non profit organization lead by its members dedicated to furthering the growth of that vision and the enthusiasm that we all share.

We have taken steps to create an organization called “The North American Solstice Sky Owners Association” (NASSOA).  We are dedicated to furthering the enthusiasm and growth of the Pontiac Solstice and the Saturn Sky.

We believe that it was important to form a non profit organization to serve the Solstice and Sky owner communities as well continue the support of charities through our donations.  We want to provide an environment to keep our members up-to-date on any latest breaking news and also provide guidance and support in the promotion of local, regional, and national events.

We also firmly believe in the safety and well being of every Solstice and Sky owner and part of our mission will be to provide educational materials to assist owners in the proper operation and maintenance of their vehicle as well as providing umbrella liability insurance for events that they might decide to sponsor.

In order to promote fellowship with those across North America we plan on publishing a quarterly e-mail newsletter with articles provided by local and regional clubs including listing events that they might be hosting.

So now we would like to invite you to become a member.  As a member we welcome your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions because this is first and foremost an organization that will be lead by its members.

Welcome aboard
